The Microscope is part of the MineChem mod and allows the player to see recipes for the Chemical Decomposer and the Chemical Synthesis Machine.

To record any discovered recipes from the Microscope, the player must place a Chemists Journal in the bottom slot of the machine and then place a single item in the top left panel. Once an item has been placed in the Microscope, the right panel will display the elements produced when the item is used in the Decomposer, as well as the likelihood (shown as a percentage) of an element being produced. Note that more complex items will not display recipes and cannot be Decomposed (Minecarts, Furnaces etc). Items placed under the Microscope will not be destroyed, and can be retrieved by clicking on their magnified image on the top left slot. The Microscope does not require power to function.

Players can use the Decomposer without learning recipes from the Microscope, relying on trial and error. However, in order to create items in the Synthesis Machine, the player must have both the Microscope (to discover recipes) and a Chemist's Journal (to record the recipes).
